Waipu Hilltop Escape
Ten minutes from Waipu Cove, recently named New Zealand's Best Family Beach. Rock pools, the Waipu Coastal Walkway and the glow-worm caves are all a short drive from your door, and Waipu village's Scottish heritage — the museum, the Highland Games each January — is worth a wander in its own right. Or stay put and watch the hills turn gold from the hilltop at dusk
What We Offer
The Homestead
SLEEPS UP TO 14 · 4 DOUBLE BEDROOMS + SLEEPOUT
The Homestead is where the whole crew comes together. Four double bedrooms and a separate sleepout with six single beds mean there's room for the extended family, the school-holiday crowd or the wedding party without anyone feeling squeezed in. An en suite and a second bathroom keep mornings moving, while two separate living areas give you the choice of a quiet corner with a book or a bigger gathering in front of the fire. Wide windows frame the same hills that roll down to Waipu village and out to Bream Bay, so the view is never far from wherever you're sitting.
The Barn
FULL KITCHEN · GAMES STUDIO · BILLIARDS · BASKETBALL HOOP · KIDS' AREA
Originally the working heart of the property, the Barn has been reimagined as the entertainment centre of Waipu Hilltop Escape. A full kitchen makes self-catering easy, whether that's a big shared roast or a quick breakfast before the beach. There's a bathroom on hand, a billiard table to rack up a game on, and a movie and video games studio for the nights you'd rather stay in. Send the kids out to shoot hoops before they discover the trampoline in the adjoining kids' area — the living area opens straight onto that space, so the adults can keep half an eye on the action while everyone else lets off steam.
The Pool House
HEATED POOL · COUNTRYSIDE VIEWS
Some of the best moments at Waipu Hilltop Escape happen poolside. The Pool House centres on a heated swimming pool — warm enough for an evening swim even once the Northland air has cooled — with a seating area alongside it that looks out across open countryside toward Waipu. It's the natural gathering point at the end of a beach day: towels drying on the rail, something on the barbecue, and the hills turning gold as the sun drops toward Bream Bay.
“The kids never left the Barn, the adults never left the pool, and everyone met in the middle for dinner. This place is built for exactly the kind of holiday we wanted.”
